WW2 Hatchets

These hatchets have a story to tell. These guys were made in 1944 for the war by well-known axe manufacturer Plumb, and American Fork and Hoe Co. Both hatchets have a head weight of roughly 1 pound. Each hatchet has the manufacturer’s name, along with “U.S” and the year 1944. Finally, they are handled with beautiful curly hickory, that has been “charred and tarred”.

These guys were given the “Less is More” treatment when it comes to restoration. I wanted to preserve as much of the markings, imperfections and story as I could. These guys were wire wheeled to remove rust, and that was about it. They did receive a fresh edge to put them back in working condition if that is what you wish to do with it. These pieces of history are ready for another lifetime of use and care, and I am thrilled with how they ended up.
