My Story

My name is Samuel Wandishin, and I am a young maker. I simply love to make things with my hands. It’s rewarding to me, to make something not only useful, but beautiful.

It was back in high school I decided I wanted to get into metalworking. I learned to weld in shop class and watched various videos on metalworking and blacksmithing. Forging was one thing that really peaked my interests, and when I finally got my first forge and anvil, I started hammering away.

I’ve made a wide variety of forged and welded items for people the past few years, such as bottle openers, fireplace tools, BBQ tools, knives, tools, and more. I love finding scrap steel and giving it new life, and new purpose. I’ve taken metal scrap from farms and ranches and incorporated it into various projects. I love to be creative and make things unique.

Over the past few years I got to work with some incredible smiths, and learned a whole lot. Then in early 2020 I had the incredible opportunity to work with Alec Steele, Will Stelter, and many more incredible people. I learned so many more skills and got to make friends with really talented young men.

I went to school at Gallatin College for Business Management and Welding. I’ve also taken a blacksmithing class with David Osmondson at Arrowhead forge. I am continuing my blacksmithing education by being a part of the Northern Rockies Blacksmith Association as well. That has been a blast to get to meet up with some incredible makers. I still have lots to learn and every day I continue to grow in the craft.

Why the name?

I named my business after Ross Peak, a beautiful mountain that looks over the Gallatin Valley here in Montana. This peak is in the Bridger Mountains, and is close to my grandparents ranch that I grew up on. Ross Peak is the mountain that I call home.

What does the mark mean?

On most of my work you will see a lightning bolt mark. This is because when I sign my name, I write my “S” like a lightning bolt.
