Acid Stonewashed Chef’s Knives

These gorgeous chefs have a unique and rugged finish that we like to call acid stonewashing. Other finishes can change with time and can get blemishes. It’s hard to keep mirror, or satin finishes pristine over time. This Acid Stonewash finish gives a beautiful rugged appearance that will keep on looking good with time. The finish is achieved by sand blasting the blade after finish grinding. Then the blade sits in ferric chloride, (the same acid used in etching damascus steel,) to darken the whole blade. Finally the blade goes into a tumbler to get stonewashed. The resulting finish is beautiful and rugged.

These knives are forged from 80CRV2 steel and the first knife sports a vintage linen butterscotch micarta bolster and black dyed maple burl handle. The second knife has a black G10 bolster and natural spalted curly mango handle from Hawaii. The third knife has a dark theme, with black paper micarta for the bolster, and ancient bog oak for the handle.
