Splitting Hatchets

These guys are just as beautiful as they are functional. These hatchets mark a couple firsts for me. To start, they are forged from one solid piece of 4140 steel, and come out to around 1 1/4 pounds for each head. The handles were hand made, and given the good ol’ “Char and Tar” finish. Forged and ground with an obtuse geometry, these hatchets are excellent splitters (cutting WITH the grain). And you guessed it, they come sharp enough to shave with.
