2.5 lbs Dog Head Hammer
This hammer is totally unique. it features an octagonal face and sharp facets. The term dog head refers to the hammer’s weight being purposely off balanced from the eye. Traditionally, Dog Head hammers were used in Japan for forging swords and cutlery, and forging in the bevels by hand. This hammer has a very slight crown to the face, undetectable by the eye, along with rounded corners. This makes it an excellent candidate for forging knives and the bevels, but prevents sharp markings in the steel. It also features a dyed hickory handle in a mahogany/ red wine color.
